Baseball Recap: Dumont Sets Scoring Season-High Against Hasbrouck Heights

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dumont). Everything went their way against the Hasbrouck Heights Aviators on Thursday as they made off with a 20-10 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Huskies considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Dylan Mendez was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run. Jarrett Carramusa was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Dumont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matches.

Dumont has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hasbrouck Heights, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Dumont will be taking part in a tournament against Leonia at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Hasbrouck Heights, they will host Bergen Charter at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
