Basketball Game Preview: Harvard Cardinals vs. Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets

The Harvard Cardinals and the Heartland Lutheran Red Hornets will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses dating back to last season for Harvard and eight for Heartland Lutheran dating back to last season.

Harvard is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Dorchester.

Meanwhile, Heartland Lutheran lost to Nebraska Christian on the road by a 50-35 margin on Saturday.

Harvard will have to keep a close watch on Luke Olson and Cole Lindner, a pair of players who had a big impact on Heartland Lutheran's prior game. Olson posted 13 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Lindner had nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Xander Rivera, who put up six points.

Harvard's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Heartland Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Harvard ended up a good deal behind Heartland Lutheran when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 60-41. Can Harvard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
