Softball Recap: Hingham's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Hingham dropped their record down to 4-4 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Duxbury Dragons. The Harbormen were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dragons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

As for Duxbury, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

For Duxbury's part, Francesca ?Franky? Iovanna spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks. Iovanna has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caleigh Ryan, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Emma Thibedeau, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hingham will head out to face off against Notre Dame Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Duxbury, they will venture away from home to take on Quincy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
