Baseball Game Preview: Centennial Cougars vs. Franklin Admirals

For the second straight game, Centennial will face off against Franklin. Centennial will take on Franklin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centennial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Centennial lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Franklin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's game. Centennial put the hurt on Franklin with a sharp 18-4 victory on Tuesday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Connor Gray looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Eli Wells was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Centennial: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dennis, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Centennial kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.

Centennial's record now sits at 6-7. As for Franklin, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Centennial has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Franklin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
