League recap: Broomfield gets lift from Perez's big bat

Angelo Perez was on fire this week, as he led 4A Northern with a .286 average, one home run and five RBIs. Meanwhile, Broomfield put together a 3-1 week.

The Eagles currently sit at the top of the league with a mark of 23-5 overall and 14-0 in the league. Longmont sits four games back in second, with a 10-4 record in league play.

Broomfield boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Eagles have given up a mere 120 hits on the year, while striking out 236 opposing hitters. Brandon Bailey is the leader in that category with 107 Ks on the season.

Broomfield's Jackson Lockwood finished his week with seven hits, tops in the league. On the season, he's hitting .484 and ranks first in the league with 44 hits.

Air Academy's Brandon Bailey struck out nine Broomfield hitters en route to a 3-2 victory on May 26. Over his seven innings pitched he allowed zero runs on two hits.



Brandon Bailey threw a shutout as he led Broomfield to victory over Canon City, 5-4, on Friday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine, while giving up two hits.
