Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jack Doherty and Thomas Mekuto Lead Walter Panas to Victory

Walter Panas won the last time they faced Poughkeepsie and things went their way on Saturday too. The Panthers came out on top against the Pioneers by a score of 21-12. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Thomas Mekuto and Jack Doherty. Mekuto rushed for 76 yards and one score while Doherty rushed for 91 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Mekuto has posted since back in October of 2024.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Walter Panas' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Doherty and Frank Guida, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Walter Panas' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Poughkeepsie, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
