Basketball Recap: Jalen Malone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Westfield over Fishers

Westfield entered their game against Fishers on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Westfield Shamrocks fell just short of the Fishers Tigers by a score of 67-64. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Shamrocks have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Several Shamrocks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jalen Malone, who posted 15 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Haffner, who had 15 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fishers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jason Gardner, who went 8 for 11 on his way to 20 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds. Gardner is also crushing it when it comes to field goal percentage: he's posted at least zero every time he's taken the court this season. Justin Kirby was another key player, going 6 of 9 en route to 18 points and six boards.

This is the second loss in a row for Westfield and nudges their season record down to 12-3. As for Fishers, the win keeps them at an undefeated 19-0.

Westfield has already played their next contest, a 58-55 victory against Mooresville on the 8th. As for Fishers, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 85-55 win against Manual on the 8th.
