Independence had lost four straight, but after bumping their record up to 3-12-1 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Lebanon Trail Trail Blazers as they made off with a 13-3 win. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 14-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
Avery Hillier made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hillier was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Independence let McKinley Roberts and Megan McCadden run wild. Roberts went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while McCadden went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Roberts a new career-high. Bella Arredondo also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Independence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
As for Lebanon Trail, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Independence since April 9, 2022.
On Lebanon Trail's side, Kendall Drewry was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
