Basketball Recap: Rangeview Piles Up the Points Against Buena

Rangeview won against Tucson High Magnet School on Friday with 65 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Rangeview Raiders breezed by the Buena Colts to the tune of 65-33. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked first in Colorado, while the Colts are ranked 62nd in Arizona), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Rangeview to victory were Marceles Duncan and Ladavian King. Duncan went 5 for 9 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and five blocks, while King went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Royce Edwards, who posted ten points.

Rangeview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in eight consecutive matches.

Rangeview's record is now 8-0. As for Buena, they moved to 8-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rangeview will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Aurora Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. One thing working in Rangeview's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Buena also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025.
