Baseball Recap: Sunlake Comes Up Short

Friday just wasn't the day for Sunlake's offense. They fell just short of the Land O' Lakes Gators by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The Seahawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Gators earlier this season, when they won 5-3.

Josh Rogerson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over 5.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Sunlake's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5. As for Land O' Lakes, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Sunlake will head out to face off against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last nine games Wiregrass Ranch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Land O' Lakes, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mitchell at 7:00 p.m.
