Basketball Recap: Cullman Christian Comes Up Short

Cullman Christian had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-2 to make it 12. They had to suffer through a 77-20 loss at the hands of the Vinemont Eagles. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-10.

As for Vinemont, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 68.5 points this season.

Vinemont was led to victory by Colton Gillis and Bryson Bush. Gillis shot 73% from the field on his way to 17 points and three steals, while Bush went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Marsh, who posted 14 points.

Looking ahead, Cullman Christian will look to defend their home court on Monday against St. Bernard Prep at 6:30 p.m. As for Vinemont, they and Curry will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest, having both just played. The Eagles will be up against the Yellowjackets' rather soft defense (which has allowed 75.5 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
