Basketball Recap: Bradford Comes Up Short

Bradford and Newberry squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Bradford had to settle for second. They were dealt a 75-38 defeat at the hands of the Newberry Panthers. While losing is never fun, the Tornadoes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while the Panthers are ranked 18th).

Juwan Scippio was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points for Newberry. That's the most points Scippio has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Matthias, who scored 12 points.

Bradford's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Newberry, the win keeps them at an undefeated 23-0.

Bradford does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newberry, they will face off against Bolles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Newberry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bolles likes a good challenge.
