Baseball Recap: Alonso Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Alonso had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sarasota Sailors a 3-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Ravens.

Alonso got a great performance from Julian Batista as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Batista also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Ravens are undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 10-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Alvin Santiago was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Daniel Despaine was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Alonso's record is now 18-11. As for Sarasota, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-7-1.

Alonso will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Sailors: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
