Preview: North Fork Miners vs. Grand Valley Cardinals

The North Fork Miners will head out on the road to face off against the Grand Valley Cardinals at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Fork posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. Everything went their way against Aspen as North Fork made off with a 39-15 victory. The win was just what North Fork needed coming off of a 59-22 defeat in their prior match.

North Fork got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was London West out in front who scored eight points along with five rebounds. Alyssa Lovelace was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Meanwhile, Grand Valley put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 33-24 victory over Cedaredge. Given Grand Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Cedaredge is ranked 165th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Jaycee Pittman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Pittman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

North Fork's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Grand Valley, they pushed their record up to 10-0 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.

North Fork was able to grind out a solid win over Grand Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023, winning 58-50. Will North Fork repeat their success, or does Grand Valley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
