Football Game Preview: West Plains Wolves vs. Irvin Rockets

The West Plains Wolves will challenge the Irvin Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in West Plains' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

On Friday, everything came up roses for West Plains against Hereford as the team secured a 45-7 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Whitefaces: they've now won four in a row.

West Plains got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was SLADE RUSSELL out in front who rushed for 161 yards and two scores while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. RUSSELL's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 129 rushing yards. West Plains also got a significant boost from GIANNI PECK, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 130 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Plains was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 374 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

West Plains' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 3.5 times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: PECK, BRENDT NALL, and JACOB CROWE, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Irvin beat Clint 20-15 on Friday.

The victory got Irvin back to even at 5-5. As for West Plains, their record now sits at 9-1.
