Basketball Recap: Manchester Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Manchester was the 95-75 winner over Monacan when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Manchester Lancers fell to the Monacan Chiefs 59-55. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Chiefs are ranked 32nd).

Amare Cooper was his usual excellent self, shooting 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds for Monacan. The dominant performance gave Cooper a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Tai Bowler, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Manchester's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-4. As for Monacan, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Manchester will head out to face off against Cosby at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Monacan, they will welcome Huguenot at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
