Softball Game Preview: Saint Viator Lions vs. Prospect Knights

The Saint Viator Lions will challenge the Prospect Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Saint Viator turned things around against Wheeling on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 14-4 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Lions considering their two-run performance the game before.

Noelle Jacques tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had over her last 11 contests.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Moreno, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella DiMarco, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Saint Viator always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wheeling only posted an OBP of .346.

Prospect never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Rolling Meadows on Monday. They blew past the Mustangs 13-3. Considering the Knights' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Prospect now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Saint Viator, their victory bumped their record up to 4-21.
