Volleyball Game Preview: Hagerty Huskies vs. Oviedo Lions

The Hagerty Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Oviedo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hagerty will be strutting in after a victory while Oviedo will be coming in after a defeat.

On Thursday, Hagerty made easy work of Lake Mary and carried off a 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Huskies.

Hagerty walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-12, 25-20, 25-21.

Isabella Cruz was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had seven digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since September 3rd. Allyson Leach was another key player, getting 15 digs and one assist.

Meanwhile, Oviedo is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Philip Simmons. The Lions fell just short of the Iron Horses by a score of 2-1. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Oviedo sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 14-25, 15-12.

Hagerty's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Oviedo, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-5.

Hagerty beat Oviedo 3-1 when the teams last played back in September of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
