Softball Recap: Williamsburg Wildcats vs. Blanchester Wildcats

Williamsburg extended their losing streak to five on Wednesday, dropping them down to 6-6. They lost 8-2 to Blanchester. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Blanchester this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 on Monday.

Kaityln Pollitt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

As for Blanchester, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

On Blanchester's side, Gracie Rose spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, Bailie Bare was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Mackenzie Blankenbeckler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Williamsburg will square off against Bethel-Tate at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Blanchester, they will face off against Wilmington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
