Football Recap: Hilliard Drops Highest Score of Season Against Interlachen

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hilliard). Everything went their way against the Interlachen Rams on Friday as they made off with a 54-34 win. The Red Flashes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Rams, too.

Dj Alderman threw for 42 yards. Jeffrey Smith was his top target, picking up 42 receiving yards.

Despite the loss, Interlachen saw an underclassman step up: freshman DJ McKinnon rushed for 108 yards and one score, and also threw for 236 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Those 108 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for McKinnon. Another player making a difference was Brody Stevens, who rushed for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

The victory snapped Hilliard's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 3-5 record. As for Interlachen, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Hilliard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 49-0 loss against Liberty County on the 24th. As for Interlachen, they have also already played their next matchup, a 41-0 defeat against St. Joseph Academy on the 24th.
