Basketball Recap: Apollo Comes Up Short

Apollo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a blow against the Hancock County Hornets, falling 58-22. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 61-36 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, Apollo still got an impressive performance from Jessica Lee, who posted eight points and five boards. Brylei Brake also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Apollo's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Hancock County, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Apollo and Hancock County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. Apollo will take on Daviess County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday down 190 places (241 vs. 51). Meanwhile, Hancock County (ranked 176th) will meet Meade County (ranked 41st) at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
