Softball Recap: Columbus East Takes a Loss

Columbus East extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-5 in the process. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Seymour Owls. The contest marked the Olympians' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Lola Watkins made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Watkins is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

As for Seymour, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. While they didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

On Seymour's side, Taylor Stuckwisch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Zoe Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

Looking ahead, Columbus East will head out on the road to face off against Shelbyville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Seymour, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlestown at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
