Baseball Recap: Westfield Shamrocks vs. New Castle Trojans

Westfield put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They put the hurt on the New Castle Trojans with a sharp 11-2 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Westfield as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Nathan Bodenberg looked comfortable as he struck out nine batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.

On the hitting side, Westfield got a big performance out of Brayden Hibler, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Lincoln Hoffman, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

On New Castle's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gannon Harris, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

New Castle has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
