Basketball Recap: Deer River Comes Up Short

Deer River has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 77-56 to the Cherry Tigers, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Tigers are ranked 17th).

Deer River's defeat dropped their record down to 25-4. As for Cherry, they pushed their record up to 30-1 with the victory, which was their 23rd straight at home dating back to last season.

Deer River does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cherry, they will square off against B O L D on Thursday. Cherry knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 31 contests -- so hopefully B O L D likes a good challenge.
