The Coal Ridge Titans are taking a road trip to challenge the Vail Mountain Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Coal Ridge took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over Rangely. The Titans have beaten the Panthers the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.
Coal Ridge never let Rangely on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-20, 27-24.
Meanwhile, Vail Mountain earned a 3-1 win over De Beque last Wednesday.
Vail Mountain got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The final score came out to 31-29, 23-25, 25-12, 25-11.
Coal Ridge's record now sits at 10-4. As for Vail Mountain, their record is now 5-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Coal Ridge hasn't let much over the net this season, having averaged 4 blocks per game. It's a different story for Vail Mountain, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 blocks. Given Coal Ridge's sizable advantage in that area, the Rangers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Coal Ridge took their victory against Vail Mountain in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
