Football Game Preview: Anson Bearcats vs. Forest Hills Yellow Jackets

The Anson Bearcats will square off against the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Anson has given up an average of 32.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Anson came up short against Monroe and fell 32-20. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Redhawks are ranked 59th).

Despite the defeat, Anson had strong showings from Tasean Harris, who rushed for 88 yards and one TD, and Cordarrius Bivens, who rushed for 37 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Forest Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over West Stanly on Friday, taking the game 41-28. The win continues a trend for the Yellow Jackets in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won five in a row.

Anson better focus on containing Jansen Rivens and Noah Furr as the pair were huge in Forest Hills' win. Rivens rushed for 69 yards and one score on only five carries, while Furr rushed for 23 yards and one touchdown. That's the most rushing yards Rivens has posted since back in September of 2024. Russell Fincher was in the mix as well, providing Forest Hills with one TD.

Anson's loss was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Forest Hills, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Things could have been worse for Anson, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 25-8 loss to Forest Hills when the teams last played back in November of 2024.
