Recap: Columbus East Olympians vs. Seymour Owls

The Columbus East Olympians fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Seymour Owls on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Owls by a score of 59-56. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Columbus East in their matchups with Seymour: they've now lost five in a row.

Despite the defeat, Columbus East saw an underclassman step up: Keaton Lawson scored 22 points along with eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carter Patterson, who scored 12 points.

Columbus East struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Columbus East has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Seymour, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.

Columbus East will play host again and welcome Mooresville, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
