Decatur Central came into Friday's contest having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They claimed a resounding 72-45 win over the Perry Meridian Falcons. The Hawks pushed the score to 56-36 by the end of the third, a deficit the Falcons had little chance of recovering from.

Decatur Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Quintyn Voltz led the charge by going 9-for-15 on his way to 22 points and three steals. Voltz is becoming a predictor of Decatur Central's success: when he posts at least 20 points the team is 2-1 (and 4-13 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Sigmund, who shot 78% from the field to rack up 17 points and three steals.

Decatur Central was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They posted six more assists than Perry Meridian's also-impressive total of ten.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sterlin Lewis, who posted 11 points. Jeremy Johnson also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steals of the season.

Decatur Central's record is now 6-14. As for Perry Meridian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-16.
