Basic faced Green Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Wolves won by a run and slipped past the Gators 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won five in a row.

Basic got a great performance from Lincoln Evans as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Evans has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Troy Southisene was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Basic's record now sits at 11-7. As for Green Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.
