Baseball Recap: Mineral County Starts Season with Victory Against Non Varsity Opponent

Mineral County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Saturday. They put the hurt on Non Varsity Opponent with a sharp 14-4 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Serpents as it put an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Chase Reeves made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sean Ethridge, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Aadan Shalosky, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Mineral County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, an 18-10 loss against Non Varsity Opponent on the 1st. Non Varsity Opponent has also already played their next game (against Winn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
