Baseball Game Preview: Scituate Spartans vs. Tolman Tigers

The Scituate Spartans will face off against the Tolman Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.

Scituate proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by eight) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Tiverton 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jackson Scanlon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Scituate saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Zolkos, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Travis Howman was another, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Scituate hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tiverton struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Tolman got themselves on the board against Davies Career & Tech on Wednesday, but Davies Career & Tech never followed suit. They came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 5-0.

Tolman pushed their record up to 15-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Scituate, their victory bumped their record up to 13-7.

Scituate took their win against Tolman in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 8-2 score. Do the Spartans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
