            Softball Recap: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Hollins Royals        
        
		
        
        
            St. Petersburg unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Hollins Royals by a score of  11-10 on Thursday. The Green Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Royals apparently hadn't forgotten their  defeat the last time these teams played  back in May of 2024.
 Anne Clare Penney spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and seven unearned) runs on three hits.
 At the plate,  Novalee Rollins and  Taylor Page did some serious damage despite the final result:  Rollins  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-5, while  Page  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 3-for-4.  Jayden Grimes was another key player,  scoring a  run while going 1-for-4.
 Even though they lost, St. Petersburg  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hollins onlymanaged three  hits.
Hollins pushed their record up to 1-1 with the  win, which was their fifth straight  on the road dating back to last season.
 Both  teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Petersburg will host Osceola  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Hollins, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Indian Rocks Christian  at 7:00  p.m.
