Baseball Recap: Canby's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

While Canby's win against Lakeview wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Lakers 5-4 on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lancers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Jace Rangaard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Will Abrahamson and Cash Antony did most of the damage at the plate: Abrahamson went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Antony went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Antony a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Sigler, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Canby's win bumped their record up to 3-6-1. As for Lakeview, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Canby will head out on the road to challenge Tracy-Milroy-Balaton at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches. As for Lakeview, they will host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lakers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
