Football Recap: Southern Lee Cavaliers vs. Pinecrest Patriots

A victory for Southern Lee just wasn't in the cards on Friday as the team wasn't able to take the lead at any point. They had to suffer through a 42-13 loss at the hands of the Pinecrest Patriots. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while the Patriots are ranked 69th).

Although Southern Lee took the loss, they still got scores from Brett Blanks and Robert Sims.

Zymire Spencer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries for Pinecrest. Spencer's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 127 rushing yards dating back to last season. Another rusher making a difference was Chris Najm, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

Southern Lee dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Pinecrest, their record is now 5-1.
