Softball Recap: Wicksburg Comes Up Short

Wicksburg suffered their closest defeat since March 26, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Holtville Bulldogs by a score of 7-5. The Panthers' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Wicksburg saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Cox, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, Cox posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another was Natalie Cole, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Wicksburg's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Holtville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Wicksburg wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 loss against Spanish Fort on the 15th. As for Holtville, they have also already played their next game, a 4-4 tie against Smiths Station on the 15th.
