Laguna Creek started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Yuba City. They fell just short of the Honkers by a score of 9-8 on Tuesday. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Kate Saxton and Ella Lovato stepped up to the plate in a big way. Saxton went 3-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Lovato went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Mia Gonzalez, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Laguna Creek now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Yuba City, they pushed their record up to 15-5-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Laguna Creek will square off against Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Yuba City, they will challenge Twelve Bridges at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Honkers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raging Rhinos have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
