Football Recap: Viera Sets Scoring Season-High Against Tohopekaliga + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Viera). Everything went their way against the Tohopekaliga Tigers on Friday as they made off with a 44-22 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Viera's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Shaun Hartman Jr led the charge by picking up 116 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Nelson, who rushed for 79 yards on only seven carries.

Viera was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 306 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Viera's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Brian Veal was the leader with two. Dimitri Jean got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tre Punter, who picked up 102 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Xaevez Brown was another key player, rushing for 113 yards on only 14 carries.

Viera now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Tohopekaliga, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Viera will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Cocoa Beach at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for Tohopekaliga, they will venture away from home to face off against Harmony at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Tigers their first taste of in-conference action this season.
