Basketball Game Preview: Royal Falcons vs. Fort Bend Willowridge Eagles

Last Friday, Royal came up short against Almeta Crawford and fell 61-51. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while the Chargers are ranked 300th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Braylon Reado, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 boards. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games he's played. Zaelyn Shelton was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fort Bend Willowridge). They really took it to Harmony School of Innovation for the full four quarters, racking up a 79-45 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Royal has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Fort Bend Willowridge, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-13.
