Baseball Recap: Wheatland Find Success

Wheatland won the last time they faced Yreka and things went their way on Monday too. The Pirates had just enough and edged out the Miners 3-1.

Hughston Rodney was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wheatland has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Yreka, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Wheatland and Yreka will both be playing Yuba City the next time they take the field. The Miners will head out to face the Honkers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Pirates will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
