Baseball Recap: Kalkaska Takes a Loss

Kalkaska fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against McBain on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Ramblers by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Blazers have suffered since May 20, 2024.

Kalkaska got a good showing from Noah Patnode, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Hunter Semak made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Kalkaska's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6. As for McBain, their record now sits at 5-1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kalkaska will face off against Cheboygan at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Blazers are facing the Chiefs at the right time seeing as the Chiefs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for McBain, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Cadillac at 4:00 p.m.
