Volleyball Game Preview: Archbishop Carroll Lions vs. The Academy of the Holy Cross Tartans

Archbishop Carroll is 0-10 against The Academy of the Holy Cross since October of 2015 but things could change on Tuesday. The Lions will head out to face off against the Tartans at 6:00 p.m.

Archbishop Carroll is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Paul VI, who was ranked fifth in their home state at the time (Archbishop Carroll was ranked 25th). The Lions lost 3-0 to the Panthers on Friday.

The final score came out to 25-3, 25-3, 25-7.

Meanwhile, The Academy of the Holy Cross strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Bishop Ireton with a sharp 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: The Academy of the Holy Cross took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-15, 25-12.

Archbishop Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for The Academy of the Holy Cross, their victory bumped their record up to 16-0.

Archbishop Carroll might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from The Academy of the Holy Cross in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
