Soccer Game Preview: Turner Ashby vs. Monticello

The Turner Ashby Knights will square off against the Monticello Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Turner Ashby is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Rocktown just ended the team's six-game winning streak last Thursday. They came up short against the Raptors, falling 4-0. Having soared to a lofty nine goals in the game before, Turner Ashby's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Monticello had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. Monticello might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by three goals or more this season.

Their offense was hitting Alleghany from everywhere, as eight different players booted in a goal. Clyde Jones led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Turner Ashby's loss dropped their record down to 15-2. As for Monticello, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6-2.
