Groton-Dunstable hadn't done well against Marlborough recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Crusaders, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Groton-Dunstable got a massive performance out of Bridget Houle, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Annie Apigian, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4.

Groton-Dunstable now has a winning record of 1-0-1. As for Marlborough, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Groton-Dunstable is taking a road trip to square off against Nashoba Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Crusaders' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Marlborough, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shepherd Hill Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
