Softball Game Preview: Tarboro Vikings vs. Greene Central Rams

For the second straight game, Tarboro will face off against Greene Central. The Vikings will welcome the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarboro has given up an average of 18.4 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Tarboro's last matchup with Greene Central could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Tuesday. The Vikings lost 16-1 to the Rams. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Greene Central's part, Anna Grace Tillman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Tillman was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shelby McKeel, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025. An'Nysha Wooten was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Greene Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .808. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Greene Central's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5. As for Tarboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
