Soccer Game Preview: Salem vs. Mattoon

The Salem Wildcats will challenge the Mattoon Greenwave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Salem's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Salem lost 10-1 to Columbia on Thursday. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Salem were already down 8-1.

Meanwhile, Mattoon fell victim to Mt. Zion and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Braves, falling 6-0. The defeat continues a trend for Mattoon in their meetings with Mt. Zion: they've now lost four in a row.

Mattoon now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Salem, they now also have a losing record of 9-10.
