Basketball Recap: Springfield Falls Despite Big Games from Tessa Troutman and Ella Jordan

Springfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Southview Cougars, falling 62-40. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-20 back in January.

Despite the defeat, Springfield had strong showings from Ella Jordan, who posted 21 points and three steals, and Tessa Troutman, who had six points along with 11 rebounds and four blocks. Those 21 points gave Jordan a new career-high. Ty?Shaela Wright was another key player, putting up nine points.

Southview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amani Woodard, who went 6 of 11 en route to 13 points and five steals. Another player making a difference was Morgan Rigg, who scored eight points and 12 boards.

Springfield's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Southview, their victory bumped their record up to 6-14.

Springfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 95-11 defeat against Anthony Wayne on the 3rd. Southview has also already played their next match, a 61-36 loss against Northview on the 3rd.
