Baseball Recap: Tarpon Springs' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against East Lake, Tarpon Springs was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 10-6 win over the Dunedin Falcons. The high-scoring effort was just what the Spongers needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Tarpon Springs got a great performance from Danny Scott as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Scott has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Parker Rochkind was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Tarpon Springs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Dereck Tyler was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Tarpon Springs moved to 7-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Dunedin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tarpon Springs will venture away from home to challenge Largo at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dunedin, they will head out on the road to take on Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Dunedin 3.4, Osceola 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
