Softball Recap: River View Takes a Loss

River View had lost four straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 8-13 to make it five. They came up short against the Garaway Pirates, falling 11-4. The Black Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Pirates from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

River View saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Haylee Hall, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Adysin Turner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Garaway, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

On Garaway's side, Annabelle King made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). King has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on True Tango, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Krista Miller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Garaway beat River View by a score of 9-1 later that day.
