Basketball Game Preview: Hillgrove Hawks vs. Osborne Cardinals

Hillgrove and Osborne are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Hillgrove Hawks will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Osborne Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. Hillgrove is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Hillgrove duked it out withPebblebrook on Tuesday. Hillgrove claimed a resounding 75-37 win over Pebblebrook. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Yolanda Floyd had a dynamite game for Hillgrove, going 9 for 19 en route to 24 points. Those 24 points gave Floyd a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Harris, who posted 13 points along with five assists and three steals.

Hillgrove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Osborne played a tough match on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 54-32 to Campbell. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 324th, while the Spartans are ranked 14th).

Hillgrove is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.2 points. As for Osborne, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-13.

Everything came up roses for Hillgrove against Osborne in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 75-19 victory. In that game, Hillgrove amassed a halftime lead of 32-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
