Basketball Game Preview: Freeman Mavericks vs. Thomas Jefferson Vikings

The Freeman Mavericks will challenge the Thomas Jefferson Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freeman has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Last Thursday, Freeman came up short against Glen Allen and fell 75-62. While losing is never fun, the Mavericks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 42nd).

Meanwhile, Thomas Jefferson was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 73-68 to Petersburg. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Crimson Wave recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Thomas Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Freeman, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last ten matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.

Freeman took their win against Thomas Jefferson in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 87-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Freeman since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
